Community Coordinator and Host
THE SANDBOX Community Coordinator role is the face and voice of THE SANDBOX working directly with the ownership and Community Managers of THE SANDBOX Goleta and our other locations.
Responsibilities for all SANDBOX positions include:
- Answering general questions about THE SANDBOX.
You’ll be one of the first faces that people see when they enter THE SANDBOX, and you’ll be trained to be an expert on how we work, our goals, our memberships and event space. You’ll enjoy connecting to as you answer any questions that people may have. - Leading an occasional walk-in, or scheduled, tour of the space.
We’ll try to schedule all tours when our owner or staff is on site, but on occasion a potential member might want to see the space without scheduling a tour. You’ll be part of the team and help show them the space and explain why it may be a good fit for their business. - Keeping THE SANDBOX clean and ready
Our space can have a lot of hustle and bustle, and you will always be on the lookout for an empty coffee pot, or a stray coffee mug or other things left on tables, or workspaces. We take pride in keeping the space ready to go, clean and tidy!
SANDBOX candidates should:
- Be interested in small business, entrepreneurship and innovation. Most of our members will be running some sort of small business out of the space or working for innovative companies! These subjects will be on everyone’s minds and we hope they will be on yours too.
- Be outgoing and curious about our space and members. Coworking spaces are social spaces, so you’ll need to be interested in getting to know who else is in the space.
- Be interested in what is happening in Goleta, the central coast and the local neighborhood. Visitors may ask you for advice on where to go in the areas we are located, and you should have a few good spots up your sleeve.
The Community Coordinator role will focus on the following areas:
- CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE: You’ll learn THE SANDBOX member experience and help improve and be part of the process! Our members are happy when they are excited to come to work and CONNECT with other members and attend our events and programs.
- MEMBER MANAGEMENT: Connecting Members to other members, programs and mentors. Helping to ensure that members are excited about their SANDBOX experience and acting as amplifiers for THE SANDBOX message.
- NEW MEMBER SALES: You will make an impressive initial contact with a new or potential member which includes greeting people with enthusiasm and openness, giving informative and compelling tours, listening intently to the customer’s needs, and then selling them the appropriate services (membership, conference room, event space).
- OPERATIONS: You will be responsible for making THE SANDBOX look amazing each day and operating smoothly with regard to cleanliness, stocking of necessary supplies, management of janitorial services, mail delivery, creating a record of maintenance/punch-list. The goal is to make THE SANDBOX member experience effortless, convenient and beautifully efficient.
- MANAGING & MAINTAINING THE SPACE: Job duties include preparing the space for upcoming conference room rentals and events. Keeping up on the daily/weekly/monthly calendar to make sure all members, guests and partners’ event experience runs flawlessly. (guest logins, technology needs, drinks, furniture layout, cleanliness of rooms, coordination with a point person). This includes physically preparing the space for events and restoring the space back to the office environment after the event.
Desired Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in a customer service related field or hospitality driven role in: Guest Service, Customer Service, Sales, or a similar field.
- Outstanding communication skills in person, on the phone and by email. Traits include active listening and tactfulness and ability to communicate in a presentation format.
- High level of emotional intelligence
- Proven leadership experience
- Ability to understand and manage the complexity of being part of a team, yet work independently
- Demonstrate initiative, capacity to work without supervision and confidence in decision making
- Ability to work calmly under pressure with good time management skills
- Possess a strong sense of responsibility, reliability and professional presentation
- Display a great level of enthusiasm and positivity
- Highly approachable and open personality
- Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills, another language(s) is a plus, Spanish would be amazing.
- Basic computer program knowledge: Spreadsheets, Documents, Cloud Software, Collaborative Project Management Software, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Slack, etc.
